IN THE run-up to the general election a series of debates between candidates, called hustings meetings, will be taking place.
A meeting on world poverty between candidates running for election in the Monmouth constituency is on will on April 27 in Abergavenny.
Members of the public can put questions to the Conservative's David Davies, Labour’s Hamish Sandison, Plaid Cymru’s Jonathan Clark and Martin Blakebrough of the Liberal Democrats at the event, being held by international development charity VSO.
The hustings will take place at the St Michael’s Centre, Pen y Pound, at 7.45pm.
Newport East hustings will take place on April 25 at 7.30pm, at St Julians Baptist Church, Beaufort Road.
Local candidates including Labour’s Jessica Morden, Conservative's Dawn Parry, Ed Townsend of the Liberal Democrats, Fiona Cross for Plaid Cymru, Pippa Bartolotti of the Green Party and David Rowlands for UKIP, will give a short presentation and will then respond to questions.
Newport West candidates will debate during a meeting at Bethel Community Church, Stow Hill on April 29 at 7pm.
They include Paul Flynn for Labour, the Conservative’s Mathew Williams, Veronica German of the Liberal Democrats, Jeff Rees for Plaid Cymru and a fifth panelist invited from a minority party, to be confirmed.
