A GWENT mum is running the London marathon on Sunday to raise money for the charity that supports her diabetic son.
Yvonne Forsey, 52, from Rogerstone, will tackle the 26-mile race in aid of Diabetes UK because of the support the charity provides for her 16-year-old son Gareth, who suffers from type 1 diabetes.
The caring mum is hoping to raise £500 for her chosen charity, which helps diabetics like Coleg Gwent student Gareth to manage their condition on a daily basis.
Mrs Forsey, who belongs to Lliswerry running club, will be running alongside nine of her fellow club members in the hope of increasing awareness for the cause.
She said: "Preparation is going well. I completed a 20 mile training run last week and am hoping for a finishing time of around four-and-a-half hours."
