SUPERMARKET chain Sainsbury’s is to extend its Cwmbran store after council chiefs gave its planning application the green light.
The Llewellyn Road store’s existing café and kitchen will be relocated into an extension and there will also be a new mezzanine level for extra retail floorspace.
The superstore’s petrol station will be relocated within the site and a new upper deck to the car park will be built.
There will also be new customer toilets, improved access, a larger café and a Goods On Line home shopping department created.
Members of Torfaen council’s planning committee approved the plans at a meeting on Tuesday.
Sainsbury’s was granted planning permission to build the store in Cwmbran in 1993.
