THE M4 is closed westbound between junctions 34 and 35 this afternoon following a serious accident.
A collision between two vehicles happened just before 10am. An overturned van is still on the carriageway and a lorry has rolled down the motorway embankment.
Emergency services are in attendance.
South Wales Police say the motorway will be shut for the whole of the afternoon and duringthe rush hour later in the day and possibly into tonight.
Drivers are advised to use the Cardiff link road A4232 between junction 33 and Culverhouse Cross and A48 West Bridgend and Swansea.
