A TAKEAWAY owner suffered facial injuries after being punched in his Newbridge shop.
A man threw an empty plastic bottle into the takeaway at around 9.50pm last Friday then entered shouting and, when asked to leave, punched the 36-year-old victim from Cardiff, Gwent Police said.
The takeaway owner was taken from his shop on The Circle, in the Pantside estate, to the Royal Gwent Hospital with a possible broken nose and facial injuries, a spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said.
He was discharged from hospital later that night.
Police said nothing was stolen in the incident and nobody has been arrested.
Officers are currently investigating the incident and have been patrolling the area and carrying out enquiries.
A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: "We would appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone with information about the incident to contact Gwent Police on 101 or Crimestoppers annonymously on 0800 555111."
EDITORIAL COMMENT: Catch this thug
YET again we have another example of random violence committed by someone who cares not one jot about their actions.
A takeaway owner in Newbridge suffered injured to his face after he asked a man to leave his shop.
We have seen several examples in recent months of people who have carried out violent attacks on people.
These people give no thought to their victims or the long-term effects their attack have on them.
We hope this latest culprit is caught soon and taken off our streets before they decide to administer any more of their violence on innocent by-standers.
