A WORLD-FAMOUS recycling Labrador is set to receive a top council accolade.
Seven-year-old Tubby will receive a Civic Award from Torfaen Council next month after recycling around 30,000 plastic bottles in his life time.
Twice daily the pooch goes out for a walk and usually picks up at least six plastic bottles from wherever he can find them.
He then happily crushes them in his mouth and takes them back to his owner Sandra Gilmore, of Cadoc Road, West Pontnewydd, who recycles them in her black box.
Mrs Gilmore, 52, said: "I'm thrilled that Tubby is going to receive a Civic Award for doing such as great job for the environment and for the council."
Torfaen Mayor Bob Jones will present the award at a ceremony at the Civic Centre in Pontypool.
The Argus reported last month how Tubby is also set to be immortalised in a Torfaen Council cartoon strip.
