A VALLLEYS woman, convicted of harassing a Freddie Mercury impersonator, was back up in court yesterday for continuing to pester the singer while on bail.
The Argus exclusively revealed earlier this month how Marie Anne Lewis of Valley View, Cwmtillery, was convicted of harassing William Westmoreland and his wife Susan who live in the Scottish borders.
Lewis had found Mr Westmoreland, whose stage name is Billy West, on the internet and started two years of abuse because she was jealous of his “glamorous lifestyle”.
This included making abusive phone calls and sending abusive letters including one which contained the skin of a tarantula with a note saying “I hope this scares you”.
She had also tried to assault Mr Westmoreland at a performance in Swansea in October 2008.
She was arrested in October 2009.
But the 27-year-old was hauled back before magistrates in Caerphilly yesterday for continuing to harass the Queen tribute artist after her initial arrest.
The court heard how Lewis had rang Mr and Mrs Westmoreland on three days between December 31 last year and January 14.
Prosecuting Ruth Hale said the calls had become nastier including one in which Lewis called Mr Westmoreland "Hitler" and referred to him as her "executioner".
The first phone call was made on December 31 to a club in Accrington where Mr Westmoreland was performing.
Lewis apologised but then asked Mr Westmoreland why he had “grassed her up”.
Mr Westmoreland refused to speak to her but Lewis continued to ring the club.
Lewis then rang Mr Westmoreland at his home address on January 6 four times. It was during this set of calls she called him her "executioner".
Lewis then made another five calls on January 14 to Mr Westmoreland’s home but he again refused to speak to her.
The calls were reported to the police and Lewis was arrested.
Defending Ralph Evans said this matter could only be dealt with at a magistrates’ court but that the case had been taken into consideration when Lewis had been sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on April 13 for the first harassment charge.
Lewis will serve the two-month sentence concurrently to her eight-month sentence she was given on April 13.
