A VALLEYS woman went on a 24-hour hunger strike outside Blackwood police station after she was arrested over an alleged malicious phone call to a nurse.
The woman, from Rhymney, was arrested on March 24 after allegations of a malicious phone call to a nurse at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport.
She was questioned by officers but it was decided no further action should be taken against her.
During questioning, the woman disputed the nature of the call and provided police with a tape recording of the conversation which revealed a discrepancy in the nurse's statement.
The woman decided to take her grievance with the nurse to the streets of Blackwood, protesting outside the town's police station bearing a sign saying 'hunger strike.'
She arrived around 2pm on Monday and left at approximately 2.30pm yesterday.
Sgt Ian Bartholomew said officers checked on the woman every two hours throughout her protest and gave her water, but she refused food.
Police informed the protestor the nurse will be spoken to within the next 48 hours before a course of action is decided and the woman stopped her protest and left willingly.
