AN EBBW Vale woman was given an indeterminate prison sentence yesterday after admitting stabbing her neighbour in the chest.
Paula Williams, 43, of Tredegar Road, Hilltop, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court where she was given an indefinite sentence for the public protection.
Williams previously pleaded guilty to wounding with intent following an incident on December 26 last year when 54-year-old Gerald Coffey was stabbed.
At an earlier hearing, the court was told Mr Coffey was in his bedsit in Tredegar Road when there was a knock at the door and Williams was stood on the doorstep with an eight-inch bread knife.
Prosecutor Owen Williams said Williams made an accusation about Mr Coffey and then stabbed him in the chest causing a two-centimetres deep wound.
Officers were called to Tredegar Road on Boxing Day at around 12.45pm after reports that a man had been stabbed.
He was taken to Abergavenny's Nevill Hall Hospital for treatment.
Psychiatric reports were compiled on Williams before yesterday's hearing.
The Recorder of Cardiff, Nicholas Cooke QC, ordered Williams to serve a minimum term of four years yesterday and the 120 days she has spent in custody will count towards her sentence.
