The reasons I am standing for parliament on behalf of Monmouth and the Green party is that I believe we have to make a huge shift away from current political thinking - economic growth at all costs.
Economic growth needs to happen, but only in key areas to create jobs. Un-sustainable consumerism must come to an end soon. We plan to kick start the UK economy with a million Green jobs and training places that will have real benefit to local communities.
Here in Wales we see big business set up factories and bring employment, only to take it away again when a better deal comes along in another part of the globe. We must not continue to let the profits of big banks and businesses come before the needs of our communities.
Locally in Abergavenny I have been fighting for the retention of our local market, which the Tory council are trying to sell off to the highest bidder against the wishes of pretty much the whole Town.
Town planning is also an area where the needs of the community should be put before that of big developers. Local consultation needs to be put first.
I want to see a fair system of politics, with proportional voting and an elected second chamber! Politics has to change, to be transparent honest, and able to do improve society, without the unfair lobbying and pressure from big business.
I want a sustainable happy and fair society for my children. Let’s put our environment first!’
If you want a breath of fresh air to politics, and to see real changes, vote Green in this years General and Local elections.
