MORE than 50 people have lost their jobs at a manufacturing firm in Torfaen.
Doncasters Group Ltd has cut 52 jobs at its Blaenavon site, which makes engineering parts for international companies.
The company entered into a 30-day consultation period over 60 jobs at the site in February, due to tough conditions in the global engineering market.
The Forgeside factory had employed around 300 workers.
Don Poole, the divisional managing director of Doncasters Speciality Castings Division, said:"With trading conditions continuing to be tough in the global power generation and aerospace markets, these redundancies were sadly necessary as part of a series of steps to reduce fixed costs and secure the long-term success of the business."
The Doncasters Group works with alloys and metals, which require specialist shaping, and its products include aircraft exhausts, turbine airfoils, rings, castings, combustion components and pump and valve parts.
