David Morgan is the Welsh Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Torfaen.

Born in Panteg, Pontypool and brought up in Newport, where he attended Brynglas Primary and Bettws Comprehensive, David is currently employed by Bridgend Council as an IT Officer.

He is also a Councillor in Cardiff where he lives. Having lived in Newport, Pontypridd, Talbot Green and Cardiff and working in Bridgend, he sees himself very much as a South Wales citizen of the M4 corridor (despite not keeping a private car and commuting by train.)

"One of the greatest challenges as I see it is to reinstate people's belief in their own communities and to engage with the public. People have lost faith in politicians and the system as a whole - we all have a role to play in winning back their trust.

"Torfaen in common with the whole of the valleys area has been neglected by Labour. There has been no development under their stewardship.

"The latest unemployment figures show that yet again we are suffering more in Wales than throughout the rest of the UK. The mistakes of the Labour Westminster Government have been compounded by the ineptitude of Labour and Plaid at the Assembly.

"The people of Torfaen deserve better than this. They need a representative who will put them first and who will inject a sense of energy and forward thinking.

"I am working hard to get the maximum support for the different kind of politics the Welsh Liberal Democrats represent - our priority in all circumstances will be to deliver the four key priorities set out in our manifesto of fairer taxation, a fair start for all our children, a rebalanced economy and political reform."
