BRITAIN’S best known and sharpest impressionist Rory Bremner comes to Abergavenny’s Borough Theatre next month.
His repertoire of more than 100 characters has sustained a highly successful career in radio and television spanning 25 years.
He is joined by stand-up Hattie Hayridge, of Red Dwarf fame, and award winning singer Ian Shaw.
Bremner made his name in 1985, when his single, N-N-Nineteen Not Out - released as The Commentators - was a big hit in the British charts.
It was a parody of Paul Hardcastle’s number one record 19, with Bremner impersonating cricket commentators Richie Benaud and the late, great Brian Johnston and John Arlott.
The Scot replaced Hardcastle’s references to the Vietnam War with those of the England team’s disastrous 1984 home series drubbing by the West Indies.
He went on to contribute to Spitting Image’s success and is well known for his work in political satire.
Bremner and friends will be at the Borough Theatre on Monday, June 20, at 8pm.
Tickets are £18, available from the box office on 01873 850805 and online at www.boroughtheatreabergavenny.co.uk/
