YOUNGSTERS from across Blaenau Gwent will step up to the challenge this weekend as part of a new community initiative.
More than 100 children are expected to take part in a teen challenge in Bryn Bach Park, Tredegar, on Saturday, to mark the launch of the Young Dragons in Blaenau Gwent.
Launched by the Prince of Wales last year, the initiative aims to improve co-operation between youth organisations, the Police, the Armed Forces and Emergency Services in Wales.
The all day event will see teams from the scouts, air cadets, sea cadets, army cadets, guides, boy’s brigade, St Johns Ambulance and the fire service, take part in a number of challenges including archery, raft racing, wall climbing and football. Trophies will be awarded to the winning teams.
Activities for all the family will take place throughout the day. The event runs from 10.30am until 5pm and entry is free. For more information email phillip.morris@gwent.pnn.police.uk.
