A FRIEND of the man who died in his neighbours arms spoke of the devastation felt by his friends and family following his death.

Alan Falvey, 30, died in his home in Abersychan last week after he was found with serious chest injuries, believed to have been caused by a stabbing, on Tuesday evening.

His death prompted a murder inquiry which led to the arrest of a 30-year-old woman on suspicion of murder.

She is believed to have been living with Mr Falvey in Greenwood Road at the time of his death and has been bailed until June 9.

Mr Falvey grew up in Moorland Park, Newport, and friend Gemma Bush, 29, who has known him for more than 20 years, set up a Facebook group in his honour which has more than 475 members.

She said: "He was the nicest person you'll ever meet, I'll remember him for his smile and his laugh - it was the most incredible one you've ever heard."

Miss Bush went to Lliswerry Comprehensive School with Mr Falvey, who still has family in Newport, and said he has a passion for music, particularly rave.

She added: "Everyone is devastated, I can't stop crying. He was so well-love, it's just sad he's been taken away from us so soon."

Supt Peter Keen said forensic tests are being carried out on knives recovered from the house to determine if any of these was the weapon used.

Interim results on the post mortem carried out on the victim revealed he died from a serious chest injury.

Police said the silent 999 call which notified them to a problem was made from a landline in Greenwood Road around 7pm.

Officers and the ambulance service went to the house, but Mr Falvey was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

Anyone with information about Mr Falvey's death is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
