AMONG next week’s events are many involving Gwent people, including performances by Ebbw Vale male voice choir and Ysgol Gymraeg Brynmawr.

Rugby fans can get tips from the Newport Gwent Dragons who will be on the Maes at 11am every day.

Alongside these are the highlights of the week such as the Crowning of the Bard ceremony and the awarding of the Learner of the year.

WEATHER

THE Eisteddfod will get a mix of the weather over the course of the event, with a mix of sunshine and showers expected throughout the week.

Every day should see sunny spells and cloud, but the threat of showers loom throughout. The maximum temperature throughout will be 21 degrees.

TRAVEL

THERE will be no road closures but event organisers are asking motorists to follow the signs which will direct them to the park and ride sites around Ebbw Vale in order to keep traffic flowing smoothly.

Shuttle buses will run frequently to the Maes from car parks at the Rassau Industrial Estate and Cwm.

The main entrance to the Eisteddfod is via the new hospital entrance off the A4046, but is accessible only by foot or bus. Cars are not allowed in this entrance.

A second entrance is at the North of the site, again accessible by foot or bus only.

Shuttle buses will run from 7am every day until after the concert in the Pavilion and free parking is also available in Ebbw Vale town centre.

An hourly train service runs from Cardiff Central to Ebbw Vale Parkway, leaving at 35 minutes past the hour and arriving at 31 minutes pas the hour, stopping at Rogerstone, Pontymister and Risca, Crosskeys, Newbridge and Llanhilleth.

The return trains leave Ebbw Vale at 40 minutes past the hour and arrive in Cardiff at 37 minutes past the hour.

Shuttle buses from the Maes to Ebbw Vale Parkway throughout the day.

The X18 bus leaves Newport bus station at 35 minutes past the hour and takes one 1 hour 21 minutes to reach Ebbw Vale, stopping regularly up the A467 and A4046.
