ABERTILLERY and Blaina Rotary Club was just one of the dozens of organisations who had a stall at the National Eisteddfod.
The club, who have been helping charities all over the world, were raising awareness of its ShelterBox project.
ShelterBox is an international relief charity, specialising in emergency shelter provision.
The charity instantly responds to earthquake, volcano, flood, hurricane, tsunami or conflict by delivering boxes of aid.
Each box supplies and extended family of up to 10 people with a tent and lifesaving equipment to use, such as thermal blankets, insulated ground sheets, multi-fuel stove, cooking utensils, tools, water containers and purification equipment and a childrens’ pack.
The charity is being backed by Rotary International and people from the Blaenau Gwent branch are trying to raise as much money as they can in order to purchase these boxes and send them to Pakistan.
Each box costs £500 to buy.
Michael Wyatt from Abertillery and Blaina Rotary Club explained that these boxes are a lifeline to some people, their only means of help.
Once purchased, they are sent out with a team of workers to make sure they go to the people in need and show them how to put them up and make the most out of the tools inside.
They are also sending drinking straws, water purification systems that enable people to turn dirty water into clean drinking water.
