VISITORS to Ebbw Vale yesterday were treated to plenty of sunshine throughout the day following the rain which dogged Wednesday’s proceedings.
Adding a bit more colour to the day was two performances from Gwent Childrens Festival, made up of youngsters from Pontygof Primary School, Ebbw Vale, Oakdale’s Rhiw Syr Dafydd Primary, Ysgol Gynradd Bryn Bach and Ysgol Gymraeg Brynmawr.
Dressed in traditional clothing, the youngsters staged an indoor and outdoor dance performance.
Ann Bees, 45, from Newtown, Ebbw Vale, was there to watch her granddaughter, Keelie Keane, eight.
She said: “I’m enjoying it, I’ve never been to an Eisteddfod before – it’s good that it moves around and gives everyone a chance to come and visit it. I’m really enjoying watching the performance and I’m going to take my granddaughter around afterwards to see what’s on offer.”
Elaine Wyatt, 28, also from Newtown, was in the crowds with her two-year-old Casey Marie and the pair were watching her other daughter, Chloe, eight, perform on stage.
She added: “It’s lovely to see the Eisteddfod round here brining activity to Ebbw Vale, it’s nice to bring the kids out as well, they really enjoy it and I’m glad to see my daughter taking part in the Eisteddfod.”
Pontypool and Gwent folk dancers also graced the dance tent in the afternoon for those with a taste for the traditional.
