INTERNET sensations Newport State of Mind and Bettws singer Jon Lilygreen were among those on the line-up for this year's Urban Circle Cityfest.
Hundreds of youngsters converged on Newport city centre over the weekend for the annual two-day festival, which is now in its third year.
Visitors to John Frost Square on Friday night enjoyed the likes of electro-pop five piece, Mike Fantastic, and pop-rock quintet Gun Smoke City, as part of Rock Out, the festival's celebration of pop, punk, indie, metal and rock.
Despite the rain on Saturday, the city centre became a hive of activity as the event kicked off again with a boxing arena, live art zone, dance demonstrations and live broadcasts from Newport City Radio.
Singer songwriter, Jon Lilygreen, who represented Cyprus in this year's Eurovision song contest, entertained the crowds at the Newport City Radio stage, with his acoustic set including covers of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean and Justin Timberlake's Senorita.
Other acts taking to the stage included award-winning Newport soprano Holly Holyoake, city singer songwriter Tobias Robertson and the B-Boy Wales breakdancing team.
YouTube stars, Alex Warren and Terema Wainwright, were welcomed with applause and cheers, when they came on to perform their spoof of Jay Z's Empire State of Mind, with the crowd singing along.
The duo performed at the official reopening of Newport's Transporter Bridge last week, and said the city had given them an amazing welcome.
"It's great to be back," Alex told the crowd.
Urban Circle project co-ordinator, Dennis Mackenzie, said: "Everything went really smoothly. We were a bit worried about the rain, but it held off and turned out beautifully.
"We've had lots of bands and musicians who were so enthused by the event that they want to take part again next year and we've had lots of young people wanting to get involved. That was the intention, to invigorate the youth and encourage them to showcase their talents."
