EUROPEAN Tour chief executive George Mr O'Grady defended the decision to hold the Ryder Cup in Wales in October calling Friday's weather "unlucky."
He said organisers were also told it never rained in Spain in September but it rained virtually the whole week the tournament was there.
He said golf tournaments have lost days to rain before.
"We have played the Wales Open here and have lost days of play as well which is just unlucky. It's happened in other tournaments before."
He said there have been some beautiful days in the build up to the event and also some horrendous ones.
He pointed to bad weather in Scotland and the Midlands also saying "that's just the climate" in the UK.
