A VALLEYS teenager admitting attacking his stepfather and trashing the family home after a night drinking and taking cocaine.
Newport Magistrates Court heard Grant Jones, 18, returned home to Pontypool on the evening of January 1 after drinking eight pints of cider and taking cocaine with friends on a night out in Cwmbran.
Prosecutor Mark Salter said Jones, of Brynwern, began making a nuisance of himself before getting aggressive towards his mother and brother, saying he was going to kill someone.
He threw a glass bottle at a wall before going into the bathroom where family members could hear more smashing.
Jones' stepfather Phillip Jolliffe and his brother Craig stepped in and restrained Jones, who started spitting at Mr Jolliffe before hitting him in the face.
Mr Salter said the pair let him go and Jones returned to his bedroom before running into Mr Jolliffe's bedroom, swinging punches, hitting him twice in the head before throwing a £750 plasma TV on the floor.
He made his way outside where he smashed the wing mirror, worth £50, off Mr Jolliffe's Vauxhall Astra.
Defending, James Campbell said the guilty plea was on the basis Mr Jolliffe hit Jones first and he retaliated and the TV fell and smashed. This was not accepted by the prosecution.
Mr Campbell added that Jones was "very remorseful" over what happened.
Magistrates adjourned the case until February 11 for pre-sentence reports to be prepared. Jones was granted conditional bail.
