A NEWPORT teenager, who lost his father to cancer, is through to the live semi-finals of Sky One’s Got to Dance talent show.
Jack Bradshaw, 16, and his dance group Eruption will now compete for a coveted spot in the final of the show, hosted by Davina McCall and judged by Diversity star Ashley Banjo, ex-Pussycat Doll Kimberley Wyatt and actor and dancer Adam Garcia.
The Lliswerry High School pupil from Bettws finally struck gold in the competition after failing to impress the judges last year.
The self taught street dancer, who had to give up dance classes when his mum Heather gave up her job to fight breast cancer in 2007, originally entered because he wanted to buy his father Roy, who died of cancer in 2008 aged 53, a headstone for his grave if he won the £250,000 prize money.
But despite not getting past his first audition Jack refused to give up on his dream and won a scholarship with TDM Dance School in Port Talbot and returned with the team this year.
Jack, who has been dancing since he was eight, is currently juggling studying for his GCSE’s with travelling to training ahead of the 19-strong group's next performance on January 30.
Mrs Bradshaw, 53, said: “I think he’s brilliant, I am so proud of him, he’s put everything into his dancing."
The group will now compete against 28 other acts in the semi-finals with the hope of making it to the final later this year.
