A NEWPORT singer is reaching new heights after being selected to entertain passengers as part of bmibaby’s “enterplanement.”
Becky Barnbrook, 20, was named the winner in the airline’s X Factor-style competition aiming to uncover Wales’ top talent.
Entrants, including a Lady Gaga impersonator, a harpist and dance groups, were whittled down to nine finalists, who attended auditions at Cardiff Students’ Union earlier this month.
Miss Barnbrook, won over the judges with an Eva Cassidy ballad and her rendition of Queen’s Somebody to Love, and scooped the top prize of representing Welsh talent by performing live on a bmibaby flight, as well as winning a year’s worth of flights.
She said: “I’m so excited and a bit shocked to be honest. There was so much talent there. It’s amazing.”
“Enterplanement” aims to inspire travellers and raise awareness about local artists and businesses from key bmibaby bases and destinations, says the airline.
The judging panel included DJ Mike Jordan from Capital FM South Wales, bmibaby pilot Paul Jones and blogger Beth Charlesworth.
