WORK has begun on a £1.5 million high-tech classroom at a Caldicot primary school.
The new Castle Park Primary School’s classroom, which is due to ready for the beginning of the next academic year in September, will feature 3D projectors, laptops and video facilities for years five and six.
Deputy headteacher Kay Ford said the new facility will be open-plan - with the two groups taught in the same space and allowing them to work together.
She said teachers will be able to rearrange the classroom’s furniture according to the needs of a lesson.
That means that children will be able to prepare the room for drama play if they want, or could be separated into groups so they can work on different topics.
“When they go into comprehensive school a lot their lessons will involve ICT, the workplace uses more ICT,” she added.
“We want to be sure that our children are ready for the 21st century.”
