A WOMAN found dead after a flat fire in Liswerry, Newport, this morning, was heavily pregnant.
Fire crews from Malpas, Maindee and Duffryn were called to Broadmead Park at around 7.50am.
On arrival they received reports that someone was still in the property and when they entered the smoke-logged flat they found the body of a woman.
A Gwent Police spokewoman said the dead woman was 19 years old and was heavily pregant.
She added that the cause of the fire was still unexplained and investigations were continuing.
A post mortem was being carried out this afternoon.
