A GWENT teenage actor is starring in a spin-off series of the popular television drama Being Human.

Craig Roberts, 19, from Maesycwmmer, played a teenage vampire in a recent episode of hit BBC 3 series Being Human.

Mr Roberts played Adam in the second episode of the current third series in which he plays the role of a 46-year-old vampire in teenage clothing.

But the teenager, who still lives at home with his parents and younger sister in Maesycwmmer, is also the star of a spin-off series of the show called Becoming Human where his character returns to school and tries to solve a murder.

This online spin-off, showing eight episodes, follows the same format as Being Human and was launched last week straight after the second episode.

As well as this, Mr Roberts, who made his mark in the children's programme The Story of Tracy Beaker, has landed his first major film role in the feature film Submarine - the executive producer of which is Hollywood star Ben Stiller.

  • Newport's Maindee Baths also features in a couple of episodes of Being Human.

Clean up work to restore the grade two listed building was part funded by a contribution from the BBC after it finished filming the supernatural drama at the site last summer.
