BROADMEAD Park resident Christine Tovey, 26, took her three children to place a teddy bear amongst the growing number of floral tribute’s outside Miss Grender’s home yesterday.
Sobbing as she spoke, she said: “As far as I know and what I’ve heard she was amazing. Where is the fairness in taking a life like that?”
“Someone around here must know something. Stand up, come forward, her family must be going through hell.
“I am devastated, there’s anger, disgust, it’s just sullen. The local school was so quiet, nobody was cheery or cheerful.”
“For some poor girl to have to go through that, it’s chilling to the core. It’s not fair anymore. They did not just take one life, they have taken two innocent, precious lives.”
Family friend Stephen Smith, 38, said: “I just can’t believe what has happened. What kind of sick person does something like that? She was a lovely girl.
“It’s really got to me, I just cannot get it out of my head. I just can’t imagine what the family are going through.”
“I have seen some bad things but this is the worst thing I have ever seen in my life. It’s very upsetting, I have had tears in my eyes.
“I hope they catch the evil person who has done this. Give yourself up, this is terrible.”
Lliswerry councillor Allan Morris said: “The community are coming forward with information and there are lots of people out there with information. No matter how small, the police want to hear from them.
“This is an area that did not sit around when there was anti social behaviour - they are certainly not going to tolerate a murder.”
