THE teenage boyfriend of a murdered mother-to-be Nikitta Grender has paid a poignant Facebook tribute to his "angels".
Ryan Mayes, 18, wrote: “Heya my angels hope your ok. you meant the world to me and the bbey would have.”
“You were the best thing ever created. i missed speaking to u this mrnin and giving u a kiss. i wish i cud be with u nw. My heart has been ripped open i love u bbey and kelc. 4 ever i promise. XXX’’
They had moved into the flat in Broadmead Park, Liswerry, around six months ago and had already decorated a room for the baby.
Miss Grender's parents, Paul and Marcia, paid tribute to their daughter and unborn granddaughter yesterday and spoke of their struggle to come to terms with the deaths.
They also joined police in appealing for anyone who has any information to come forward.
Extra police patrols have been drafted in to the estate in Newport while the murder hunt continues.
A total of 50 officers are working on the case, with exhaustive house-to-house inquiries being carried out.
CCTV footage from the area is also being scrutinised in the hope that it will offer a clue.
No murder weapon has yet been found.
Superintendent Dave Johnson said: "Our officers are remaining at the scene, not only to provide reassurance but also to speak to any members of the public who may have vital information about the investigation or any concerns.’’
A major incident room has been set up and anyone with information should call 01443 865562 to speak to a member of the inquiry team or call 01633 838111 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
