A NEWPORT man who helped his wife through an emergency hysterectomy is the latest nomination in our competition to find Gwent’s most romantic man.

Adam West, 34, of Lliswerry, was nominated by his mother Carol West, of Malpas, after she said he is continually romantic to his wife Rachie, 36.

This included being by his wife’s side last June when she had to undergo the emergency operation and spent four days in the Royal Gwent Hospital.

The couple first met 18 years ago while working in a Newport Spar shop together and married at St Mary’s Church, Newport, seven years later.

They celebrate their 11th wedding anniversary tomorrow and have three children Alexander, 16, Alisha, nine and Kian, seven.

Rachie said: "Adam has been my rock from day one. He really helped me through the operation and he is always romantic in other ways too. He takes me away for surprise weekends and even marks ‘I love you’ on my toast sometimes in the morning. He is definitely romantic."
