POLICE were called to a canal in Monmouthshire yesterday afternoon after human remains were found.
A member of the public called the police at 1.15pm after finding the remains on the bank of the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal at Goytre Wharf, near Abergavenny.
Officers sealed off the area and a Home Office pathologist was called to the scene.
Last night police were treating the death as "unexplained".
They were unable to say if the remains are male or female.
