BURGLARS posing as utility workers made off with cash from a home in Newport before being chased away by one of the occupants.
Three men struck at a house in Oakfield Road while the family, two men and two women, were inside.
Dressed in workman's gear, the men told the family they were utility workers in order to get inside their home.
Once inside, the men demanded money and managed to get a sum of cash, the amount of which is not being disclosed, before fleeing as they were chased off by one of the men who lived there. They made off down Oakfield Road towards Risca Road.
The first burglar is white, 6ft 5in, between 35 and 40, and was wearing dark trousers, a yellow helmet with a clear visor, a navy scarf and chunk work boots.
One of the accomplices was described as white, 5ft 6in, fat and wearing a blue/black beanie hat with a dark scarf. He wore a purple or grey sleeveless bomber jacket with a dark, long-sleeved top underneath.
The other was also white with a tanned complexion and approximately 35. He was wearing a full high-visibility overalls with a hood and light grey gloves. He was carrying a black umbrella with a brown wooden handle.
Gwent Police said the trio were not armed and there was no indication of the four occupants being threatened.
No-one was injured in the theft and anyone with information is asked to call Gwent Police on 01633 838 111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
