PUPILS from a Newport primary school will travel to London next month to take part in at the Big Bang Young Scientists and Engineers Fair.
Year 5 and 6 pupils at Maesglas Primary School will exhibit a model carbon dioxide-powered car they entered into the Formula One primary schools Bloodhound Challenge in Swansea in January.
The youngsters had to design, build, brand and race an eight inch model car, which is powered by a carbon dioxide canister, on a 20-metre track against 24 teams from 19 schools. Maesglas pupils were awarded the best car design and also had the fastest recorded time.
The recognise their achievement the 36 children involved have been invited to take their presentation and car to the fair at London’s Excel Centre on March 10 to 12 to form part of the Bloodhound Challenge car stand.
