A MAN was rescued from a burning building in Newport yesterday.
Firefighters were called to a disused building in Temple Street, Pill, at around 5.11pm on Saturday, after reports of smoke coming from first floor windows.
Crews, from Maindee and Duffryn, forced entry to the property and found a man who was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport, as a precaution.
The blaze was extinguished using breathing apparatus and hose reel jets.
A fire service spokeswoman said the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
