A VALLEYS mum is trying to trace the son she lost touch with nearly 40 years ago.
Eunice Irene Burston, 58, of Cwm, fell out of contact with her son when she gave him up for foster care in 1978 when she could not afford to raise him.
Her son was born at Abergavenny’s Nevill Hall Hospital on March 18, 1973 and would now be aged 38.
He was fostered by a family in Cwm and Mrs Burston visited him once when he was nine months old but later lost contact.
Mrs Burston has been trying to trace her son since 2005 when the law changed and birth parents were allowed to apply to get in touch with their children through social services.
But she believes he may now have a different surname to the one he had at birth, and has so far had no luck finding him.
She said: “I have had no luck through social services, I have tried but could get no satisfaction.
“But back last year I thought this year I am going to try again, but I don’t know anything about him. It would mean a lot if I could find him again.”
Mrs Burston, who lived in Coedcae, Rassau, when her son was born, wants him to know he has a half sister Jacqueline Buchanan, 41.
No father was named on his birth certificate but his grandparents, who have both since died, were William Thomas Edwards and Rita Edwards.
Mrs Burston believes her son is now living in Cwmbran and has a foster brother and a foster sister.
If he wants to get in touch, contact our reporter Natalie Crockett on 01633 777246 who will pass on any details.
