A GWENT woman's judo club, set up following her success at the Special Olympics four years ago, is going from strength to strength.
Sarah Gratton, who was born with Down's Syndrome, works alongside her coach Phillip Selway at the weekly sessions at Ystrad Deri community centre, Tredegar.
The 23-year-old, of Trefil, won a silver medal at the Olympics in 2007, in Shanghai, performing in front of a crowd of 40,000.
But although the numbers at their club have not hit such heights, since it began in September, her dad Brian said the hall space would only accommodate a few more people at his daughter's weekly sessions.
They are still open to new members and if some do join, they will consider hiring a bigger venue.
In November, the club received a £4,000 Communities First grant to purchase mats for the hall.
Mr Gratton said Sarah, who is hoping to achieve her black belt this year, enjoys teaching others.
He said: "She likes the responsibility and it is an accomplishment for her."
Ms Gratton also finds the time to regularly compete in judo competitions.
Next month, she is going to several Valleys primary schools for judo taster days.
For more information on joining the club, call Phillip Selway on 07941441742.
