A NEWPORT youngster who had a stroke several months ago was treated to a pamper party by a local hairdresser touched by her story in the Argus.
Little Kayleigh Ward, 12, was invited to Wicked hair studio on Cyril Street, with her friends on Sunday.
The youngsters indulged in having their make-up, hair and nails done during the day, organised by the salon's owner, Anne Hughes.
The friends also took part in fun and games and ate party food.
Mrs Hughes said: "I was touched by what such a young person has had to go through. Being a mother myself, I cannot imagine it happening to a child."
Last month, Kayleigh returned to St Joseph's High School, after recovering for two months in the Children's Hospital for Wales, Cardiff.
Her mum, Libeca Mochizuki-Ward, said her daughter will attend school for a few hours a week, until she feels well enough to attend full-time.
She also has the assistance of a wheelchair and someone accompanying her in lessons.
So far the youngster has enjoyed being back at school, three months after she collapsed burying her pet hamster Chip in the garden.
The cause of her collapse was identified as a stroke.
