POLLS have closed in the Welsh Assembly elections.
Voters have chosen 60 assembly members - 40 in constituency seats and 20 from regional lists.
People also had the chance to vote in the UK referendum on whether to replace the first-past-the-post system for electing MPs to Westminster with the alternative vote (AV).
More than 2,500 polling stations in the principality opened at 7am and closed at 10pm.
The first results will be announced during the night, but the final result is not expected until late tomorrow morning at the earliest.
Following a decision by returning officers, the count of votes cast in north Wales will not begin until tomorrow morning.
The AV referendum took place across the UK, but more than two million people are eligible to vote on it in Wales.
It is expected that around 400,000 Welsh postal votes will be cast in the referendum - the second in which people in Wales have participated this year.
In March, the electorate voted in favour of the Welsh Assembly being able to pass its own laws in 20 devolved fields.
The new powers will come into force during the assembly's next term.
