AROUND 40 people took to the water to complete a sponsored windsurf in aid of Cancer Research.
Sailers and windsurfers flocked to Llandegfedd Reservoir, near Cwmbran, to raise awarness and money for the charity as part of the national annual Windsurf 4 Cancer Research sunrise to sunset challenge, which was started in 2009.
Local fundraisers joined thousands of others across the UK to take part in the event, which aimed to get at least 1,000 people on the water at the same time at various locations last weekend.
Gwent organiser Mike Walklin said those taking part at Llandegfedd were aiming to beat last year’s total of £5,000.
