DAREDEVIL fundraisers jumped from a plane to raise money for baby Jaiden Jobbins, who suffers from cystic fibrosis.
Matthew Gibbs, his girlfriend, Megan Creighton, and friend, Brian Leah, took part in a sky-dive at Swansea Airfield on May 8 and have so far raised almost £600 for the Jaiden Appeal, after reading about Jaiden’s plight.
Mr Gibbs said: “I have a five-month-old boy and I know if it was my boy and I needed help I’d appreciate anyone raising money.
I know how it would feel if it was the other way round.
“We had about a ten-minute delay because of the cloudy weather, but when we went up in the plane we could see some gaps in the cloud and we came down through them.
“I realised what I’d let myself in for when we were in the plane and my stomach started to turn a bit, but when I was sat out on the edge of the plane the view was unreal.
“The jump was unbelievable.
“We haven’t totalled our sponsorship up yet but we’ve raised around £600.”
In March we reported the Jaiden’s Vest Appeal had raised £7,000 – enough for the state-of-the-art therapy vest that will help eight-monthold Jaiden fight the symptoms of the life-threatening genetic condition.
But now the money for the therapy vest has been raised, the Jaiden Appeal is continuing to raise money for equipment Jaiden will need in the future.
Jaiden’s mum, Teri Jobbins, said: “It’s brilliant that people are still raising money, I can’t believe it.”
A pool tournament and family fun day will be held at Talywain Rugby Club on Saturday and aims to raise £2,000 for Jaiden’s appeal.
