CHILDREN at a school in Newport are finding out how pupils at Belgian schools recycle, in a special cross- Channel project.
High Cross Primary School is linked up with De School in Leuven, Belgium, as part of something called the Comenius Regio project.
Last week, teachers from Leuven came to the school to meet the children, who showed them presentations on their recycling work Pupils at the school have investigated recycling in Wales and Newport and have exchanged knowledge with children from Belgium via the internet.
Based on their research, children at High Cross have come up with an action plan with ideas to improve recycling.
“This is important in showing a purpose behind pupils learning, and developing it in a real-life situation whereby they can take real action,” said Year Five class teacher Sarah Dunn.
