A NEWPORT woman is sharing her story about her life as a medium in a new book.
Frances Hollis-Powles, 61, of Bristol Street, has written A Calling of Angels, which recalls all her tales and memories of life as a medium from when she says she first discovered her “special powers” at the age of five.
Since then Mrs Hollis- Powles, who says she “feels” the presence of spirits and “hears” their voices, has travelled as far as Las Vegas to contact loved ones for people, and also holds her own spiritualist church services here in Newport.
She was invited to Las Vegas after making a film of her conducting a service in 1997. This led to her spending six weeks there, during which time people travelled from all over the States to see her.
Mrs Hollis-Powles also holds services and minishows at the Friends Spiritual Centre at the Good Companions Club, Archibald Street, where she is also a teaching medium.
Anyone is welcome to the services, held on Sundays at 6pm.
Mrs Hollis-Powles, who is married to Keith and has four children, said: “It is such an enormous comfort for people when I can contact a loved one for them. I think of it as a gift.”
