GWENT Police's newest, and shortest, recruits - the mini PCSOs - took to the street for their first patrol this week.
Youngsters from Caerleon Endowed School were recruited to help tackle an issue outside the school, problem parking.
The road outside the school, in High Street, becomes congested before and after school with some parents parking illegally as they drop off and pick up their children.
Police officers have previously handed out fines for this, but took the step to enlist year 5 and 6 pupils to become mini PCSOs to help tackle the problem.
The youngsters went on their first patrol on Thursday afternoon with the Neighbourhood Policing Team to hand out leaflets to drivers about road safety.
