YOUNGSTERS in a Newport village are enjoying a new play area thanks to a donation from the companies behind Uskmouth's Severn Power Station.
Children living in Nash village helped chose the rides and slides they wanted for the new playground funded by DONG Energy, which owns the power station, and Siemens plc, which designed and built it.
The new area boasts a pendulum swing and cradle swings, a trampoline, a multi-play unit a wobble board and a spinner.
The companies worked with local schools, Nash Community Council and the play team at Newport council to make sure everyone's wants and needs could be met before it was handed over to Newport City Council, who will maintain the play area, on Monday.
Kristian Kure, of DONG Energy, said the company was happy to do something special for the Nash community, which neighbours the power station, while Alan Wilds, of Siemens, said the play project was a fantastic opportunity to provide a lasting contribution to the community.
