TWO AMs remain disqualified from the Welsh Assembly after the case to reinstate them was withdrawn.
The Liberal Democrats had planned to put a motion to the Siambr this afternoon for Aled Roberts and John Dixon to be allowed back into the Assembly after their passes were revoked yesterday.
The pair were members of organisations which in law AMs cannot be members of.
But the motion will not be put before politicians in the Senedd today, with Labour sources reportedly saying their members took a serious view of the pair's rule breach.
Under the National Assembly Disqualification Order 2011, AMs are not permitted to be members of certain organisations to avoid conflicts of interest.
Mr Dixon was a member of the Care Council for Wales, which regulates social care workers, and Mr Roberts was a member of the Valuation Tribunal for Wales, which deals with appeals about business rates and council tax. They have both resigned from the organisations.
The withdrawal of today's motion has raised questions about when, or if, South Wales Central AM Mr Dixon and North Wales AM Mr Roberts will return to the Senedd.
Lib Dem AM Peter Black called for contrition on the matter and hoped it would be resolved quickly.
He said: "It is a bit embarrassing and it is a bit of a distraction. It's very important that we sort this out.
"We have two very high calibre Assembly members who need to be able to take their seats. I need to work with the other parties to persuade them to support that.’’
