PUPILS at a Newport primary school will be able to perform in the great outdoors thanks to a new wooden theatre.
Rogerstone Primary School officially opened its new outdoor theatre on Tuesday. The wooden stage with raised seating for the children to sit and watch and as well as to perform on themselves was opened by children’s author Anthony Browne.
The theatre, which is almost finished, will be large enough for 60 pupils.
It will also have two wigwam changing rooms.
Mr Browne, author of Through The Magic Mirror and Play the Shape Game, read some of his books to the pupils on Tuesday morning and did a book signing.
He also got to see a play performed by year five pupils in the new outdoor theatre at lunchtime before cutting the ribbon to mark its official opening.
