FLYING cabbages will be part of the fun at Chepstow Castle over the Bank Holiday weekend, where there will be a medieval siege and living history encampment.
King Edward’s Living History Group will make its first appearance in Wales, courtesy of Cadw, where it will represent the military and civilian life in medieval times.
The wealth and comfort of the elite will be displayed in the earl’s chamber, while archers and swordsmen will practise and servants will operate the kitchens.
But, one of the highlights will be the trebuchet.
It is a medieval siege machine, which will fling cabbages into the River Wye below.
The participants will tailor their garments through a medieval clothing expert, with the group including 30 youngsters aged 11 to 18 as the only school-based renactment group in the UK.
It will take up residency in Chepstow Castle on Saturday, 28, Sunday, 29, and Monday, May, 30, from 11am until 4pm.
