Newport passport office will keep 150 of its 300 jobs, a statement from the Home Office revealed this morning.

50 full time posts will remain at the city centre site to deal with the 47,000 customers from South wales and the South West who use the service. As a result of consolidation work undertaken by the IPS, a further 100 posts will be located in Newport and the office will maintain the IPS central customer complaints and correspondence function and share telephone customer enquiry handling with the Durham office.
