A NEWPORT man found dead in his flat died from pressure to the neck and face, the opening of an inquest heard.
Richard Glyn Carslake, 48, was found in his flat in Jeddo Street, Pill, on April 6 this year. An inquest into his death was opened at Gwent Coroner’s Court, sitting in Newport, on Wednesday.
The inquest heard police went to the flat after the landlord reported that Mr Carslake had not been seen for a few days.
A post mortem examination carried out at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, by Home Office pathologist Andrew Davies, found the cause of Mr Carslake’s death to be pressure to the face and neck.
The hearing was told Tyler Phillips, 19, of no fixed abode, has been jointly charged with an unnamed other with murder in connection with Mr Carslake’s death.
The other suspect is believed to be in northern Europe and an international arrest warrant has been issued for his arrest, the hearing was told.
Gwent Coroner David Bowen said he was satisfied the deceased was Mr Carslake and adjourned the inquest indefinitely pending the outcome of crown court proceedings. Mr Carslake’s body was released to his family.
