PEOPLE from across the UK joined the search for a Gwent man who went missing after attending an outdoor rave in Devon last week.
Family and friends of Joel Andrews, 24, yesterday travelled from his home in Caldicot to Fernworthy Reservoir, on the edge of the Dartmoor, where police combed the area where he was last seen on Sunday (May 22) morning.
Around 20 people met at Caldicot Labour Club, where Mr Andrews’ family are members and his brother Chris, 29, is bar manager, before driving in convoy to the site off the A30 near Okehampton.
Friends and fellow partygoers from around the country were expected to join the hunt after it was publicised on two social network sites, which have attracted 5,000 members, in a bid to help find Mr Andrews.
Stuart Harris, 23, who works at the Labour club said: “People are getting nervous about his disappearance. We are all hoping the family will come back with him. Good luck to them.”
It is understood the group will travel back down to Devon today (SAT) to continue the search.
Devon and Cornwall Police, who are leading the investigation, said Mr Andrews met friends in Bristol around 9pm on Saturday before travelling to the party in woodland near the reservoir where they arrived around 1am Sunday. He was last seen around 10am the same day.
Officers said they are getting increasingly concerned for his welfare as his disappearance is out of character.
Mr Andrews is described as white, of slim build and around 5’10” tall. He has mousy brown hair, blue eyes and a scar on his chin.
He was last seen wearing a grey coloured ‘Animal’ hooded top, blue jeans, a dark green waist length jacket and a camouflage cap.
Anyone who has any information about his whereabouts is asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 08452 777444 or Gwent Police on 101.
