A NEWPORT father and daughter will complete a half marathon walk in memory of their wife and mum.
81-year-old Clive Ball and his daughter Linda Ball, will take on the 13.1 mile Cheltenham Challenge on June 19.
They will raise money for Sue Ryder Cancer Care, which looked after Linda's mum Lynn, who died in 2010 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Mrs Ball, 72, was diagnosed just seven weeks before she died making it too late for doctors to try and save her.
Now the father-daughter team want to raise money for the nurses that cared for her in her final days.
Newport council call centre worker Linda, who lives in Duffryn, said: “They were absolutely amazing. My mum didn’t want to go into hospital so they supported her without getting in the way so that normal life could carry on.
“Even after she died they still went to see my dad.”
Mrs Ball used to live in the Newport and Caldicot area but had lived with her husband in Bishop's Cleeve, Cheltenham for years. Mr Ball has been out walking to prepare for the half marathon that will take them around Cheltenham.
Anyone wishing to sponsor them can do so by visiting justgiving/Linda-Ball
